My Fortune Cookie

So Ellie has given up her bink as of a couple weeks ago, with Daddy's help/insistence. Because of this she has also given up naps (which used to be 2-3 hours), AND it takes her a couple of hours to fall asleep at night.
(Plus, after 4 months, she is still having accidents every day, which adds to the stress)
This has driven me to insanity on more than one occasion.

My parents advice: "it'll be okay, she'll get through this stage...This too will pass..." (Not the sympathy I was looking for)

Aaron's advice (after listening to me lament over the fact that there are no logical solutions and complain about it over and over and over again), "There's nothing we can do about it, so it doesn't help to get so stressed over it..." - obviously not what I wanted to hear either. (I have found much sympathy from other young mothers like myself - thank you Shawna for your validation)

Well, we had Panda Express tonight, and this was my fortune cookie

I recommend...

"The Education of Little Tree". Such a touching book - I would be laughing one moment and bawling the next. We read it for our ward's book club last month.

A few of my favorite parts:

Granma said you couldn't love something you didn't understand; nor could you love people, or God, if you didn't understand the people and God. Granpa and Granma had an understanding, and so they had a love. Granma said the understanding run deeper as the years went by, and she reckined it would get beyond anything mortal folks could think upon or explain.

[After their dog died...] Granpa said when I got old, I would remember ol'Ringer, and I would like it--to remember. He said it was a funny thing, but when you got old and remembered them you loved, you only remembered the good, never the bad, which proved the bad didn't count nohow.

...When you come on something that is good, first thing to do is share it with whoever you can find; that way, the good spreads out to where no telling it will go. Which is right.

So, now I'm sharing this good book with you...if you like this sort of thing.

p.s. What have you read lately that you really enjoyed? (If you want to know some of my other favorite books, look at my link in the side column)

p.p.s. I still haven't decided about the Twilight series... Since I already read the first book I think I will still watch the movie. (Are they making a movie for each book - or just doing one movie for all?)

The Twilight Series...

So, I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to have my home fall apart and have my husband and children neglected while I read these books. (I have a disorder where I can't focus or concentrate on ANYTHING else, no matter how important, when I'm reading a novel.) OR, should I just wait for the movie? (Although, movies are rarely ever as good as the books.)

A couple of years ago I read the first book...or most of it. I wasn't that impressed (I can't even remember exactly what it was that bugged me about it). So, when all the other books started coming out and everyone started going crazy over them I just thought it was...well, crazy. But, lately I have read on so many people's blogs (and heard in person) about how awesome these books are. Now I'm starting to think I'm the weird one.

So, for those of you who have read it, do you think it's worth it?

And for those of you who haven't read it, why haven't you?

*Update 4-20-2012, I chose not to read the books and don't regret it. I have watched some of the movies and am not that impressed with them either. But we can all be friends still :)

Why Carly is the most popular

She's the new girl, she has fun and creative ideas, she's cute, she's tiny, she's got lots of personality, she has a cute little miniature sister, but mostly because...

she has the COOLEST Dad!

When Aaron gets home from work he plays with the girls while I finish dinner. Carly and Ellie are usually outside with their neighborhood friends and Aaron will play hide-and-seek and tag and just chase them all around.

He is such an awesome Daddy! He loves to play with them.

Another GIRL!!!

We are so excited and happy! She looked healthy and absolutely beautiful!

The due date is Valentines Day, so I am about 19 weeks along.

We are so excited about this new little one! I had morning (all day) sickness during the first trimester, but I found that I knew better how to handle it since it’s my third time around. My emotions were really all over the place during the first couple months too – one day I was sitting by myself in the family room wondering how I would ever make it through being a young mother and if I would ever feel happy and normal again and I just started bawling. Carly walked into the room and kept begging me to stop (but I honestly couldn’t). She finally ended up crying on my lap as we cuddled together...cute, but mostly sad. (Luckily the pregnancy blues have gone - and I'm really hoping we won't have to deal with the baby blues!)

Thankfully, Aaron is so understanding and puts up with mood swings and hormones really well. I think that the one thing a pregnant woman needs more than anything else is a patient and kind husband – and I definitely have that! He sees the good in me and always makes me feel like I'm a good person and a good mother, even when I don't feel like I am.

Fridge Quotes IV and other stuff

Last weekend we went on a little hike up by the University in SLC. It is getting to be such nice weather now that fall weather is coming! I'm really hoping that my girls learn to appreciate nature and the outdoors.

A Nice Picture of my neck:
This is my neck from a couple of days ago. I woke up with what I thought was a mosquito bite on Tuesday morning and by Wednesday morning it looked like this. I went to the doctor on Friday and now I'm on a topical steroid - it's definitely improving!

We had a Family Home Evening lesson on reverence this Monday (much needed - we really struggle sometimes during church). We went to our temple - which is now the Bountiful temple. While we were there looking at the temple Carly said it felt like Heaven - sweet! Speaking of Carly, I never posted a Birthday post for her - she turned four the end of August. I can't even say how much happiness and excitement she brings into our home. She is our little singer. It only takes a few times to hear a song and then she has it memorized.

She is also our little social bug. She LOVES being with friends! We are lucky to have so many
little kids living in our complex here.

Cinderella (Kierra) and Ariel (Carly)

A couple of her cute comments:

She loves to rhyme -
"Hey Dad, I've got a rhyme for ya'-
Please don't sneeze,
Dance from your knees!"

Looking at herself in a mirror - "Hey Mom, look! I have fur in my nose!"

She doesn't like to have things explained to her more than once - well today I did just that. She looks at me and says, "Mom, don't tell me again...it's not complicated."
Carly as Anne of Green Gables - she's a big fan like her Mommy!

A back view of her new hair cut - so cute!!
